Banned Substances News & Pre-Workouts.

Rob Riches, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell... Lets take a look at banned substances and Pre-workouts.

Banned substances have been a big topic of discussion in the last few weeks, most recently, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell both tested positive for a banned amphetamine known as Oxilifrine. Around six other athletes also failed the same drug test in the space of around 24 hours, one of which included Sherone Simpson, a member of the silver medal winning relay team at the 2012 London Olympics. Tyson Gay, the second fastest man in the world is most certainly the athlete who will feel the biggest consequences of failing the drug test as he has the highest profile of all the athletes.

Oxilifrine has previously been found in supplements designed for weight loss and fat burning. Often times, sketchy ingredients have been found in many over the counter fat burners, these ingredients often aren't even displayed on the label, so the key is to always buy your supplements from reputable and experienced sellers who know exactly where their products came from. Unknowingly ingesting banned ingredients is a common problem amongst professional athletes who will have been taking many different ones every day or changing them once a month for new ones. Competitors in the fields of american football, cycling, rugby, athletics and weightlifting have been caught out in similar ways before with regards to supplements, often completely unaware of what they've been consuming!

In the fitness and bodybuilding industry, even top fitness personality/model Rob Riches has recently failed a drug test because of a pre-workout supplement called 'Craze', manufactured by Driven Sports. Rob says that the stimulant 'N,alpha-diethyl-benzeneethanamine' was inside DS's Craze but wasn't on the label so he was completely unaware he was using a banned substance during consumption. This is just another example of a successful athlete being unlucky in their supplement choice and then failing a test because of it, though Driven Sports have also begun testing their Craze formula extensively to prove it doesn't contain the stimulant!

Jack3d by USP Labs was recently forced to change to a new formula because it contained a substance banned by the FDA known as 1,3-Dimethylamylamine or DMAA. The FDA banned this ingredient because they had found it had side effects such as shortness of breath, heart attacks and generally a much higher blood pressure. With all this talk of bad ingredients and misleading ingredient profiles, I'd like to recommend some pre-workouts that you can actually depend on. Pre-workout supplements that are from reputable companies, which are bought from upstanding distributors who know exactly where their stock comes from.
