As some of you may know, after dieting for 3 years solid and culminating in my British title win, I have taken some time off after all the shows in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It has only been since new year that I have been slowly getting back into the groove of training, but it feels great to say I am back at it balls to the wall and training harder, heavier and hungrier than ever before. Even after slowing things down, I still don’t go from zero to sixty right away because you could do more harm than good and you want to ease into everything so you don’t cause any injuries, as I regularly say to my twitter followers ‘you ain’t winning s**t with a pec tear!’
I’m also a huge advocate of getting blood work done. Being a top level bodybuilder means that one of my jobs is training, competing at the highest level of competition and being the best I can be every single year. If the correct measures are taken you can last a long time in this sport; but someone that is very lackadaisical in doing the small things, their dream of being a great pro can be short-lived or even worse, none existent. After a long prep or heavy off season, I may stop training for a week or two, also in this time I don’t take any supplements, and I mean NOTHING; I don’t even use protein powders or multivitamins. The reason for this is that I want to clean out my entire body of any foreign substances that I have taken while I was prepping; I even take a liver and kidney cleanse during this time. I get a full check-up at the doc’s as soon as my shows are over, then again one more time before I start increasing foods or adding a supplement regimen into my daily routine.
Last week I finally got my blood results back and I am good to go! I increased my meals to seven a day with only one being a shake. I also changed my supplements around a little, I recently added off season cardio into my daily routine, only 20 mins each morning on an empty stomach and using the newly formulated Warrior Blaze ‘Reborn’ and Bodybuilding Warehouse Excel amino acid formula. Anyone that follows me knows the products I take on a daily basis because I am always tweeting about them and how amazing they are, but these two products are new and I couldn’t wait to add them into the mix. All I can say is what a damn difference so far! Blaze Reborn is amazing; it’s similar to the old formula but without the geranium, I still get the same great stimulation and boost in energy and focus! Coupled with my pre workout formula the pumps I have been getting are insane and last for hours on end!
With adding in my supplement regimen and increasing my food, in six weeks I am already up nine pounds and in better, tighter condition than I was at new year! I’m floating around 204 right now, which is real heavy for me since I usually walk around at 190 in previous offseason’s. By the time Bodypower expo comes around I should be flirting with the 210 mark I’m sure.
Keep training hard and stay focused; there is nothing in life that can’t be overcome with perseverance and determination. If any of you who read my blog would like me to write about something specific feel free to find me on Twitter @nayrobofficial or @bodybuildingw. I try to keep very active on social media and love hearing feedback and questions from guys.
Keep it Nasty as always peeps!!
