Pompeii Workout - Train like a Gladiator

In just over a week Pompeii is set to hit our screens and tells the story of Milo, played by Kit Harrington and his quest to save his true love Cassida played by Emily Browning, as Pompeii perishes around him.

 

As much as we would love to discuss the love story of the invincible gladiator Milo and his true love Cassida, lets be honest there’s enough talk of love in the air today.. so let us skip to the important bit…. The training of Pompeii actors Kit Harrington and co star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, whom you may remember from LOST. So lets take a look at the Pompeii workout schedule and give you a plan to make you feel like a Gladiator

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has spoken of the grueling  daily 4 hour training sessions that both he and Kit Harrington had to endure in the 4 weeks leading up to the filming of pompeiiPompeii. This gladiator style plan was a mixture of fight training with weapons,  an hour of cardio and an hour of weight training, all whilst consuming a strict diet of 1800 calories.   This muscle building, fat blasting regime gave both Adewale and Game of Thrones actor Kit, very impressive physiques.

This type of body transformation on a low calorie diet takes careful nutritional planning and clever training to ensure that you are not wasting muscle whilst shedding fat.   In order to build those muscles and create an eight pack worthy of a Pompeii gladiator, both men would have had to increase their protein intake whilst cutting down calories.  The increased protein would provide the muscles with the nutrients that they need to grow and repair and yes this low calorie diet would have included carbs! Cutting out carbs is something that a lot of people do whilst trying to transform their body but carbs are brain food and without them both the body and the brain begin to suffer. The important factor with carbs is the type of carbs that you eat.  Good carbs are whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables and bad carbs are foods like white bread, pastry, fizzy drinks
