UKBFF PREP IS GOING WELL! I am still sat at 87kg first thing upon waking..
At 12 weeks out 87kg first thing upon waking is a good solid 4kg more than last time I competed in UKBFF British Finals. I know I certainly started bigger and stronger this time around, mainly from the change in my diet and the powerlifting type training I was incorporating before I began my prep, basically I was eating big and lifting big weights! This has without a doubt carried over into my prep cycle and is playing a huge role in the evolution of my physique and my mind set as a competitor. As the clock ticks down and the UKBFF show looms closer. I am starting to look somewhat decent, which must mean something is going right as I never think I look good whilst dieting.
The pumps I am getting in the gym are BEASTLY! I just trained chest last night and my pecs were so tight and full of blood, my training partner joked that they looked like a couple of balloons attached to my chest!
Summer has definitely kicked in up here in Cumbria, I love the sun, I love training in the heat and sweating the place up when I get in the gym! Some people feel lethargic and slow when it gets hot outside, not me, I thrive in that environment, I think of Branch Warren and Jonnie Jackson out in Texas training in 100 degree heat with no air con, then I look down at the cold hard iron laying on the floor and grind out some of my most insane workouts!
Outside the gym I am taking walks as extra cardio with Amy (my girlfriend). I’m a great people watcher and these walks are purely an observational exercise for me. You see all kinds of crazy things up here in the sticks, if I told you you would probably think I was lying, I swear people just freak out because of the heat! As much as I love the walks, coupled with 60 mins fasted cardio each morning and just starting 20 mins post workout last week, it’s starting to take its toll and yesterday I was all beat up after the walk and spent about 3 hours asleep on our huge trampoline in the back garden! Needless to say I was a little sunburned by the time I woke my lazy ass up!
My food intake is still high, 400g carbs at this far out is pretty much unheard of, in fact when I mentioned this to fellow BBW athlete Ollie Matthews on our recent photo shoot, he commented ‘That’s more than I have offseason!!’ This doesn’t worry me one bit, I know my body well and how it responds to certain variables and different stimulus in order to make slow progressive changes to have me at my absolute BEST shape come the weekend of October 20th in Harrogate.
Show season is fast approaching, which means people all over the country will be nearing the end of their diets and peaking for their big days! First and foremost I wanna wish every man and woman that steps on stage this year, the absolute best of luck! You have worked so hard and crafted your bodies to the point where they need to be, enjoy your time on stage, despite the result, there can only be one winner after all. I will be at pretty much all of the upcoming UKBFF Qualifiers, some I have clients competing in, some I have friends competing in, but all of them will be a blast and I can’t wait to see some amazing physiques, in particular, the ones who will be stood next to me at British Finals!!
