Essential Fatty Acids or "EFAs" as they are commonly referred to as, are fats that we cannot synthesize in our body and must taken in through diet - i.e. through eating more fatty fish (salmon, mackerel etc.), nuts, or EFA supplements.
EFAs are made up Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids (Omega 9 can be manufactured in the body). Most Western diets are deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids - this deficiency is linked to an increased rate of heart attacks, cancer, asthma, lupus, depression, accelerated aging, stroke and obesity.
Essential Fatty Acids help support your heart, immune system and nervous system.
