When DAA is ingested, it stimulates the NDMA receptors of the hypothalamus, pituitary and testicles. By stimulating the NDMA receptors of your hypothalamus, the body produces more gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). GnRH stimulates the pituitary to release more luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). Luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) are called gonadotropins because they stimulate the "gonads" (or in men, your testicles). By stimulating your testicles, you encourage them to produce (and release), more testosterone.
So, DAA is well proven - how can we get it to be even better? What would make this compound even MORE effective?
To improve DAA we need to improve how well it binds with and stimulates NDMA receptors - we do that with Sarcosine! The NDMA receptors are pretty interesting in that they require activation by two "ligands" (keys), in order to become stimulated. DAA binds to one, and Glycine binds to the other. However...in studies, taking pure Glycine has never had the best effect, so we've got to take something different - and this is where Sarcosine comes into play. Sarcosine is an intermediate and byproduct in glycine synthesis and degradation. Sarcosine is metabolised to glycine by the enzyme sarcosine dehydrogenase, while glycine-N-methyl transferase generates sarcosine from glycine. Sarcosine has been shown in clinical studies to effectively target the reuptake regulator Glycine Transporter 1 (GT1), and via GT1, stimulate NMDA activity.
What does this mean?
