If driving yourself to the hospital because you’re having an asthma attack isn’t enough for you to realise that a change has to be made, then I don’t know what is. I was told by the nurses that you need to do something about your weight or else. I just dismissed it though; I’ve always had asthma and I know when the cold weather comes it always makes it worse. So my latest asthma attack wasn’t unexpected. But despite the nurse’s opinion I didn’t think I was fat, sure I’d put a bit of weight on, everyone does, but I didn’t think that I’d put that much on.
Then I actually started to notice the weight increase. I had 38 inch waist jeans which were
tight and stretch marks which just looked horrific. Now it got to May and I thought... God I need to change! I’d been in denial for so long. I weighed in at 15 stone 11. I was just so fat and unhealthy that it was unbelievable. I took my fat photos and they were more than
enough to motivate me. When I looked them over, I just couldn’t believe what I’d become. I was a completely different person.
So I started going to the gym and doing this healthy eating thing (eurgh!). I hated it. I was there in my cellar, in my fat clothes pushing this weight seeing no progress. I was puffing away on my inhaler every time thinking ‘when is this going to get better?’. I was like everyone else, no visual progress means it isn’t working, whoopee I’d lost a pound! A pound? Is that it? You hear people lose 5 pounds in a week, not just one. I just wanted to give up. Something just kept me going though, I stuck to it. I took photos every month to record my progress and when I saw little changes it just continued to push me more! I started to enjoy coming out of the gym dripping with sweat knowing I’d tried my best and pushed myself. I was enjoying life with every push and finally, when people started to notice, it made me feel 10x better. By October I was down to the 13 stone zone.
I saw the transformation challenge and thought; if you don’t set a goal and don’t try then
you’ll never know. I wanted to be 12 stone with abs! So I read up on what to eat, and what
supplements to take etc. The Warrior Blaze fat burners were amazing, they gave me a good surge of energy for training and made me sweat like hell. They also saw to it that those crippling cravings stayed well away from stalling my progress. Then it was essential to have BCAA’s, multi vitamins and fish oils to give my body everything else it needed. I started eating 5 to 6 small meals every 2 to 3 hours a day. 2 scoops of protein powder on meals 1, 3 and 5. Then 100 grams of chicken and 2.5 oz of jacket potato for meals 2, 4
and 6. I drink over 3 litres of water a day and sometimes have a cup of green tea.
Monday - Chest and abs
Tuesday - Shoulders and abs,
Wednesday - Football
Thursday - Back
Friday - Legs and Arms/Football
Saturday - Mix up, whatever I fancied really, a bit of cardio or a bit of abs
Sunday - Rest
Now I’m here, 10 months later, 11 stone 9, no asthma problems and in the best condition I’ve ever been in. My goals are set and I’ve a lot more progress to make.
